7 websites to find your next UX Design job

February 28, 2023

If we talk about job search pages, there are currently plenty of them, the problem is that some are more efficient than others and work differently. I'm sure there are many more but these are the ones I know of and I can tell you about my experience.

Linkedin (February 2023)

1. Linkedin.

It is the most obvious because it is the most important professional network, but it is also the most powerful for creating your profile and having views.

This is what has worked the most for me on Linkedin:

  • Maintain as a professional title only what I want to dedicate "Product Designer". No ninja UX, no ex from any company, just the description of who I am at the moment and why I want to be contacted.
  • Create a short description that talks about me personally
  • Include keywords in the descriptions of each of the work experiences.
  • Add my resume, my portfolio and all the personal projects that add value to me as a designer.
  • Add only the skills that I feel they contribute to me as a Product Designer and which I want to continue using in my future jobs. For example, before I had Indesign as one of the tools that I master, but that tool is not used in UX design, therefore it does not help me to have it there. In this way, I also avoid being contacted for positions that do not interest me.
  • I changed my application strategy. After many years using the network I have realized that it is much more efficient to respond to messages from recruiters than to apply, the percentage of receiving responses from applications is quite low.
  • If I decide to start applying I filter directly by "Easy Apply" on Linkedin, this prevents me from wasting time filling out forms on external websites that are generally ignored.

Angel List (February 2023)

2. Angel list.

It is a website where you can find employment in startups. I have applied to several in which I have had interviews and it has been very interesting to see how the selection processes are in these companies.

They are generally very innovative products but at the same time require dynamic and autonomous Designers who can take ownership of the product and who have strategic thinking. This is because in many cases they are looking for the first designer of the team or one of the first.

You can find everything from internships to full-time jobs, contracts and part-time, and it has the advantage that, just like on Linkedin, you can create a profile with which you can apply for positions. Thus, when applying, you only have to send a message if you wish to the person who published the position and your profile will automatically be shared.

‍

We work remotely (February 2023)

3. Weworkremotely

On this website, you can find all kinds of opportunities from contracts, freelance, part-time or full-time. The particularity is that all the positions are remote.

The disadvantage is that the application is external, so you must fill out the corresponding form for each position you wish to apply for.

‍

Brain trust (February 2023)

4. Brain trust

It is a fairly new platform compared to the others. In this case, you still create a profile, but the difference is that a company advisor conducts a 15-minute interview to verify your profile, experience, and level of English. After this verification you can start applying to all open positions.

The advantage of this platform is that it has a fairly high rate that goes from $70 to more than $150 an hour. And also you decide when you apply what rate you want to get.

‍

Otta (February 2023)

5. Otta

This is another platform that I have tried recently and that I really liked a lot.

When you start, you have to carry out a kind of onboarding that they then use to recommend the job offers that best suit your profile.

You can also see the offers depending on filters of your interest, such as seeing only offers that include salary, or seeing only those that are from a specific industry. This is super useful if you are clear about what you are looking for.

‍

Hired (February 2023)

6. Hired

The biggest difference of this platform is the change of perspective. In this case, you create your profile the same as in the others, what I personally do is copy exactly the same thing that I have on Linkedin, and after that you just have to wait. The platform is in charge of connecting you with companies that match your profile and it is these companies that contact you.

This can be an advantage if you don't want to spend time applying for positions, but on the other hand you are left in a passive position which is not the one we like the most if we are actively looking for a job.

‍

Design remotely (February 2023)

7. Design remotely

This last option, despite being the only one that is specifically for finding a job in the design area, I left it for last because it is the one I have used the least.

I actually like that they have opportunities in companies of all kinds from Figma and Spotify to smaller and unknown ones. However just like in Weworkremotely you have to apply on an external page and fill out the megaform explaining in the most personalized way possible why you want to join the company.

That is a big drawback that I see but because of the quality of the positions, it really is a good place to look for a job like the others.

I hope that all of this that I tell you about my experience with these platforms is useful to you and if you know of any other or have any experience that you want to share about these that I included in the article, I would love for you to share it with me.

If you need help, have questions, or want to leave me comments about the article or the site, you can write to me in the form below and I will answer you in the next 48 hours. 😀

Great! I will answer you as soon as possible.
